CHARLOTTE, NC – With rising summer temperatures threatening to cause even more financial hardship for people struggling to pay their energy bills, Duke Energy continues to support customers, connect them with support available and offer tools and programs – including flexible payment plans – to help manage utility bills.
Duke Energy contacts late customers via email and / or SMS with information about utility assistance administered by agencies in their local communities.
This income-based program allows those earning below certain thresholds to qualify for federal assistance on the energy bill through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP ). Eligible income thresholds are based on factors that include household income and the number of people living in a dwelling. Emergency Rental Assistance Program / HOPE 2.0
Emergency Rent Assistance Program (HOPE 2.0) dollars are again available to help eligible clients pay rents and utility bills past due since March 13, 2020. Eligible applicants can receive up to to 12 months of rent assistance, which can include up to nine months. months of rent in arrears. The program also covers essential public services, up to a maximum amount.

Homeowner Assistance Fund
The Homeowners Assistance Fund is a new federal program established for homeowners experiencing financial hardship after January 21, 2020 due to COVID-19. Monitor and manage energy consumption
