New Delhi: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called on the state’s population to do everything possible to save energy. Shri Chouhan tweeted on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day on December 24: “Energy conservation is the creation of energy.” Chief Minister Shri Chouhan called on the people of the state to resolve to stop unnecessary consumption of energy in all areas of daily life, conserve energy sources and raise awareness of its importance and to provide a better future for the next generation.

Urja Saksharta Abhiyan was launched on November 25 to encourage people in the state to save electricity. The campaign aims to save 10% electricity with the cooperation of the population. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan is also personally making conscious efforts to save electricity. In this regard, in a broadcast in Delhi on December 3, he said: “If I see a tube or a light bulb burning in vain in my house, I turn it off myself. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan called on all officers and employees of his residence office to ensure the retention of power. All agents and employees stationed in the residence have been instructed to turn off unnecessary lights on, to use room heating or air conditioning only as needed. These instructions are followed with the greatest sensitivity.

Within the framework of the Urja Saksharta Abhiyan, work is underway to sensitize all citizens of the state to energy according to an action plan limited in time. As part of the campaign, activities are carried out with the aim of providing information on conventional and alternative energy sources and their impact on the environment in order to develop an understanding of energy expenditure and waste among the greater public.

Activities aimed at raising public awareness of environmental risks, negative impacts of climate change and global warming, reducing them and enabling the general public to choose different energy technologies are undertaken as part of the campaign. Urja Saksharta Abhiyan is carried out in the state in the form of an information mission to students of schools and colleges and to the general public.
