PRINCETON, New Jersey – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Energy cost savings are at the top of the list of customer needs when considering Distributed Energy Resources (DER) in a recent study by NRG Energy, Inc. (NSYE: NRG) in conjunction with Smart Energy Decisions (SED). The objective of the study on the state of distributed energy resources was to better understand the energy trends of the DER with the largest electricity users in the country.
In the study, nearly 87% said cost savings were an important factor when asked what the key factor when considering ADRs was. Other important factors included environmental and sustainability issues. The achievement of renewable energy and sustainability goals have also been among the other main influences for the development of long-term distributed energy plans. Achievement of emission reduction targets increased by 17% between 2019 and 2020 as a driver of DER deployment. To achieve the company’s sustainability goals, customers deploy renewable energy resources in their micro-grid. This leads to the freedom to access energy on their terms, at a cost-effective rate and when they need it.
The study surveyed over 100 large electricity users about their energy plans and how DERs fit into their overall strategy.
