Image Processing in Renewable Energy Resources

This book is beneficial for researchers to work and focus on the hybrid techniques of GIS, remote sensing, image processing and its implementation on the configuration and applications of renewable energy resources. Due to population growth and modernization, the demand and supply system is out of balance, which directly affects the state of the environment. Therefore, it is necessary to use natural resources wisely so that our demand can be met without harming the environment. Hybrid techniques are fast and offer financial benefits in terms of site visit and appropriate selection. Designers can virtually plan the complete project with its pros and cons.

The book includes the various rural electrification issues facing Electricity Boards in India; the effect of uncertainty in the planning and operation of renewable energy; calculation techniques for integrating different renewable energy resources are illustrated; the layout and configurations of the integrated renewable energy system are presented and various computer technologies used to evaluate the performance and sizing of the integrated renewable energy system are presented and discussed in detail.

It also includes the automatic control of the generation of hydroelectric power stations composed of three zones was examined; optimization algorithm (WOA) was used for automatic generation control (AGC) methodology; modeling a traditional controller called proportional-integral-derivative controller for automatic generation control in single zone system. Image processing software tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, Autodesk 3DS Max, Blender, City Engine 2019, ERDAS IMAGINE, Google Open Street Map were used to calculate the sub-indices and a methodology to perform similar assessments using a variety of image processing tools have been demonstrated and various strategies devised for land use characterizations, commonly referred to as supervised and unsupervised classification.

Dr. Sachin Mishra, Associate Professor, School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab (India) completed his B.Tech degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Dr. BR Ambedkar University, Agra; M.Tech Degree in Control Systems from Faculty of Engineering (formerly: MBM Engineering College), Jai Narian Vyas University, Jodhpur; and doctorate. Diploma in Renewable Energy Resources from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee; in 2003, 2007 and 2013 respectively. He has more than 13 years of experience working in various environments, including teaching and research centers. He has published over 50 technical research articles in international and national journals, conferences and seminars. His current research interests are renewable energy integration, small hydropower financial analysis, reliability engineering, modeling of renewable energy systems.

Dr Mohit Srivastava, Professor, Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at Chandigarh Engineering College, Landran, Mohali, Punjab completed his B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya; M.Tech degree in Electronics and Digital Systems from KNIT Sultanpur; and doctorate. Diploma in Image Processing and Remote Sensing from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee; in 2000, 2008 and 2013 respectively. He has over 18 years of work experience in various environments including industries, education and research centers. He has carried out two projects financed by the IEDC (DST). He has published over 30 technical research articles in international and national journals, conferences and seminars. His current research interests are digital image and speech processing, remote sensing and their applications in land cover mapping and communication systems.
