The Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) has announced its support for the federal government’s Your Home program, which emphasizes energy sustainability.
The REIA hosted the Morrison government’s new edition of the Your Home initiative, released on September 28, 2021.
It will help Australians improve the energy efficiency of their homes, reduce their carbon footprint and save on energy costs.
REIA President Adrian Kelly said the initiative will provide free resources that will help new homeowners build an energy efficient home.
âYour Home provides Australians with a guide to designing and building energy efficient and sustainable homes that use less energy, are cheaper to run and comfortable to live in.
âMost people place sustainability higher on their list of property requirements, which in turn sees these properties sell for a higher price.
âIn addition, sustainable options such as solar panels are now becoming more affordable and therefore an option for most consumers, so there will be more demand for energy efficient and low environmental impact homes,â he said. .
Mr Kelly said the last thing you want is for consumers to be regulated into an outcome they cannot afford – consumers need to have the tools and not the rules and make their own energy policy choices. .
âEnforced energy policies can have negative and unintended impacts on the real estate market. With most of Australians’ wealth tied to their homes, this is obviously not desirable, âhe said.
Mr Kelly said the initiatives will allow homeowners to improve the sustainability and energy efficiency of their homes, which in turn will save on energy costs while also contributing to efforts to reduce emissions in the country. ‘Australia.
